The Cantankerous Old White Guy

The Second Amendment

The Problem Is Not With Guns.

It’s Hearts Without God, Homes Without Discipline, Schools Without Prayer, and Courts Without Justice.

Take a look at the indefference of ol’ Chuck Schumer in the video…but he’s having a great time with HIS popgun!

• Citizens with carry permits are more law-abiding than the general public. Only 0.01% of nearly 1.2 million permits issued by Florida have been revoked because of firearm crimes by permit holders. Similarly low percentages of permits have been revoked in Texas, Virginia, and other RTC states that keep such statistics. RTC is widely supported by law enforcement officials and groups.

• States with RTC laws have lower violent crime rates. On average, 22% lower total violent crime, 30% lower murder, 46% lower robbery, and 12% lower aggravated assault, compared to the rest of the country. The seven states with the lowest violent crime rates are RTC states. (Data: FBI.)

THE 2 ND AMENDMENT

ad469d38f8c241d085161d931a72e607

The purpose of fighting is to win. There is no possible victory in defense.  (waiting for attack)

The  sword is more important than the shield, and skill is  more important than either.. The final weapon is the brain. All else is supplemental.

1.  Don’t pick a fight with an old man.  If he is too old to fight, he’ll just kill you.

2   If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.

3   I carry a gun cause a cop is too heavy.

4   When seconds count, the cops are just minutes away.

5  A reporter did a human-interest piece on the Texas Rangers.  The  reporter recognized the Colt Model 1911 the Ranger was  carrying and asked him ‘Why do you carry a 45?’  The Ranger responded, ‘Because they don’t make a 46.’

6.  The old sheriff was attending an awards dinner when a  lady commented on his wearing his  sidearm.  ‘Sheriff, I see you have your  pistol. Are you expecting  trouble?’ ‘No Ma’am.  If I were expecting trouble, I would have brought my  shotgun.’

7.   Beware the man who only has one gun.  HE  PROBABLY KNOWS HOW TO USE IT!!!

But wait, there’s  more!

I  was once asked by a lady visiting if I had a gun in the house.  I said I did.  She said ‘Well I certainly hope it isn’t loaded!’  To which I said, of course it is loaded, can’t work without bullets!’ She then asked, ‘Are you that afraid of someone evil coming into  your house?’  My reply was, ‘No not at all.  I am not afraid of the house catching fire either,  but I have fire extinguishers around, and they are all  loaded too.’  To which I’ll add, having a gun in the house that isn’t loaded is  like having a car in the garage without gas in the tank.

And Remember:
I’m a firm believer of the 2nd Amendment!
If  you are too, please forward.

Yeah, but what of the kid that accidentally shoots his little sister with daddy’s ‘legal’ gun. It is suffice to say that the death wouldn’t have happened if the gun wasn’t there. Well, how many lives have been saved by having a concealed weapon… probably a few, but far less I would think than people killed by these weapons. Let me ask you something (and I am on your side with all this).. is it really all for protection… or is it for ego?

  • Cantankerous Old White Guy // July 5, 2008 at 3:42 pm

No ego here Bob. This is about the simple premise that when you need help in seconds, the police are there in minutes. It is easy to live in a society of civil people…but there are also too many uncivilized, tribal people that think nothing of killing you for a dollar.

I do sympathize with the example of the child shooting himself with daddy or mommies gun, but that resonsibility lies in the parent taking control and teaching the child not to handle the gun…OR ELSE.

Too many parents find it easier to be the child’s freind and NOT THE PARENT.

I will not have my family harmed because someone else was a bad parent and the child hurt themselves with a gun. You can hurt yourself with a hammer or a nailgun, power drill, saw or whatever…does that mean we can’t have power tools?

It is an old argument that does not hold water.

There will always be those that will prey on the defenesless. Guns will always be available to thugs and criminals…….and you never bring a knife to a gunfight.

When I was growing up, it was understood that if I messed with my father’s weapons, my butt would get blistered.

As a father, with weapons in the house, I took precautions. I removed the bolts from my rifles, removed the hammer from my shotgun, and locked my handgun in a case. When I learned that my 11 year old son had pointed the shotgun at his sisters, well, his butt got blistered. To my knowledge, he never touched the weapons again.

Now, my son is a Marine, and my daughters are grown and out of the house. My weapons are back to firing capability, and the handgun is in my truck, and goes with me everywhere. If grandkids come to visit, I will lock them up again. It’s called being responsible, and taking precautions.

Bob, that’s foolish! A registered gun owner is someone who follows the law. In most instances that means gun locks. These are responsible people who teach thier children gun safety and are involved in their lives. It’s the illeagal, unregistered gun possesing scumbags that leave the weapons around for thier unsupervised offspring to find and play with!

    Bob,
I gotta tell you…if parents do their jobs, there is rarely a problem w/ a firearm in the house. We all knew my father had a gun in the house and we all knew if we went looking for it our asses would be kicked to kingdom come!
I wasn’t afraid of the gun, just my father.
I sure as hell wasn’t going to piss off him off!

This is excellent! I’m glad I came across this post!

I grew up in a home with many, many guns & learned to shoot at a very young age (in today’s stats at least) & so did my brothers & sisters…

We knew not to touch them unless my father was standing there…& he made it clear that if we did, there were definite “reprecussions” so-to-speak!

It’s sad that so many “Parents” would rather be their children’s friend than tell them “Don’t touch it, or else!”…It worked on my large family. And even today, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

You don’t need a stink’in permit or Uncle Sambo’s approval to waste a sub-human peice of shit, all you need is the right equipment and a set of balls.

As far as gun ownership is concerned, I say… Use em before you lose em.

Are you serious? Your argument here is that weapons are safe? For the love of God, how can you be so naive to believe that a nail gun will do just as much damage as a gun?
The second amendment was written when people rode on horses, there was no law and you could pretty much shoot anyone you wanted.
What I believe is, people that own guns are not smart, they are ignorant and grew up in a house where their fathers probably treated their guns better than their wifes.
2nd Amendment needs to be rewritten to todays standards.
If you are not a police office you should not have a gun, if you do have one and you’re not a police officer you should be arrested.
You are a bunch of inbred morons.
Fuck the NRA. Useless association for useless, coward, people.

    Hey Redneck Hater,

You are a fool and a clown. You are type of person that will hide behind a man with a gun if things went bad. You are part of the namby pamby lace panty crowd that we have to defend on a daily basis. Go downtown and walk around. Chances are you will give up your wallet and maybe your life. You do not believe in bad or evil. I do. There are predators in all walks of life. You can either live, or be someone else’s prey!

God Help YOU and your family.
